Well the month of love has arrived – and I can’t quite believe how quickly January came and went!
I’ve come across so many great ideas, inspiration and buys for the February Favourites post – here’s the best of the bunch…
On The Tiles
One of my friends has just had her bathroom done and was showing me some gorgeous tiles from Laura Ashley.
As I’m about to get my downstairs cloakroom done, I’m also on the lookout for some unique tiles – so I might just have to buy the same!
The Dolmas Tile is £67.56 per square metre, but at the moment there’s 50% off in the sale, bringing it down to £33.78 (or £6.84 per tile which are 45cmX45cm).
South America!
We’ve all got destinations on our bucket list and, for me, South America is definitely a place I’d want to make a beeline for at some point.
So I was really chuffed to hear that Norwegian has made it even more affordable to get there…
On 14th February, the airline is launching a new direct service from Gatwick to Buenos Aires – and it’s available from £299 one-way.
There are four flights a week being offered (on a 787 Dreamliner), meaning that getting to Argentina is fuss free – and not bad on the wallet either.
Sticky AI
I reported on Sticky Al in my January Blogging Month Report as I loved it so much, I had to shout it from the rooftops, so I might as well include it on my February Favourites post too!
Basically, Sticky Al is an app that allows you to convert selfies into stickers or GIFs.

So when someone messages you, instead of replying with an emoji thumbs up, you can use the app to create either an animated GIF of yourself giving the thumbs up or even a sticker (with words) and reply that way.
I’ve tried it out on Twitter a few times and I’ve had some great responses. It’s one of those apps that you can’t stop playing with once it’s downloaded – a bit like Candy Crush if you like! Best of all, it’s free!
Ding dong
I got a leaflet put through my door recently from my community police team informing me of a rise in burglaries in my area. I like to think we’re pretty security safe, but you can never be too sure can you?
A few times I’ve thought that people have rang my doorbell just to see if we’re in and I googled ‘cameras on doorbells’
Imagine my delight when I discovered this Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell from Robert Dyas. Being a tech fan, I was really impressed.

Basically, if someone rings your doorbell, it alerts you on your iPhone and you can then see them and speak to them via an app that you can download.
You can pretend that you’re in when you’re not – and never miss parcel deliveries again!
The great news is that Robert Dyas (which currently has a half price clearance on at the mo) is offering £60 off the RRP price, meaning that it now costs a more affordable £99.
I spy with my little eye…
The TV show I’m really into at the moment is Channel 4’s Hunted. I missed the first couple of series, but watched the first episode of the third series and now I’m hooked!
I look forward to Thursday evenings when the kids are in bed and I can sit down with a cuppa and watch the contestants try to avoid the authorities.
Along a similar vein was Channel 4’s Spies TV show. I reckon I’d make a good spy – apparently it’s the average kind of people who blend in with society who make the best spies – and I reckon I’d slip under the radar every time.
If you've fancied yourself doing a bit of undercover work, did you know that you can buy real spy gadgets?
With my love of technology – and purely in the name of research – I found an online shop called Online Spy Shop – and it’s awesome!
They offer all sorts of everyday items – with hidden audio and camera recorders – it’s pricey but oh so good.
Another programme I enjoy watching is Salvage Hunters – if you’re also a fan you’ll be pleased to hear that a new series is launching on 14th February at 9pm on Quest (Freeview, channel 37).
From TV shows to movies…
I’m a huge fan of Liam Neeson and I’d love to go to the cinema to watch his latest film, The Commuter. If I don’t get the opportunity to go, then I’m definitely renting it out! I love a good action film.
There are a few good films scheduled to be released throughout this year – and I came across a site that covered the ‘Most Awaited Movies of 2018’ – which ones are you looking forward to watching?!
Tea time!
It’s freezing (as I write this, it’s actually snowing where I live!) and, as a big fan of hot chocolate to warm up me, I was chuffed to see that Whittard of Chelsea has brought out a limited edition Blueberry Cheesecake hot chocolate.
And while you’re waiting for your order to arrive, have a read of one of my latest posts – how to stay warm in winter and save money!
Pancake Day!
Yes! Shrove Tuesday is coming up and I’ve found the ideal gift to treat yourself this month.
It would actually work a treat for me as the kids ask for pancakes pretty much every weekend!
Introducing Miam, which allows you to easily make a homemade pancake mixture (to make 10 pancakes) in just two minutes.
The user simply adds flour, milk, eggs and sugar as per the measurements on the Miam pancake maker and shakes it until it’s all mixed up!
It’s also great for protein shakes on the go when you’ve had more than your fill of pancakes, is dishwasher safe and costs £18.
Scrubbing up
I’m a fan of Dr Beckmann’s cleaning products (because they do what they say they do), so when I saw that contemporary artist, Nathan Wyburn (who was on Britain’s Got Talent), had teamed up with the brand to create a unique portrait of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by cleaning a piece of carpet with Dr Beckmann’s carpet cleaner, I was amazed.
You’ve got to watch the video for yourselves to see how Nathan did it! Here's the still image…

Whoa Black Betty
It’s amazing how many new things we can discover and learn if we go out and look for it.
I recently came across a website called Black Betty (and immediately started singing the song), which sells High Street fashion at huge discounts.
Now this place sounds like my cup of tea, as the company sells branded clothing at up to 90% off. So basically you’re getting great value gear for a fraction of the cost it would be from the High Street.
How do they sell the items so cheap you might be wondering…Apparently, when the brands have overstock they can’t sell anymore, Black Betty nabs it like a ninja and then sells it on for a fraction of the price.
Black Betty sounds like my kinda person! So much so, that I’ve teamed up to offer readers of this blog a 20% off code when they make a purchase.
To take up the offer, visit Black Betty and enter the promo code: HORIZON20 at checkout.
All that's left to say is happy shopping – and happy saving!

I’m so glad you just reminded me about shrove Tuesday I can’t wait! Also I had no idea there was an invention that actually meant you knew exactly what to put in because my mixtures seem to create different pancakes every time which is so frustrating!
I’m loving the Miam pancake maker, it seems like it would make life so easy come shrove Tuesday x
It so would wouldn’t it? I’m considering getting it myself as it’s nice to make pancakes at the weekend..
That’s what I like about it Nina – no measuring or weighing….just makes life that bit easier…
The blueberry cheesecake hot chocolate sounds so nice! I also like the look of those Laura Ashley tiles and will be definitely looking at these when I move out in September! X
Thanks Whitney – best of luck with the move!
Oh wow, that blueberry cheesecake hot chocolate sounds divine! I cam imagine my daughters having lots of fun with the camera doorbell!
Yes, I imagine when we get ours up the kids will have lots of fun with it!
Oh I think I need that blueberry cheesecake hot chocolate. I have to admit I found January the longest month EVER haha! South America has been on my travel wishlist for a while so its great Norwegian are making it so affordable now.
Helen recently posted…Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour *
I think I need to get my hands on that blueberry cheesecake too! A lot of people say January went slowly but for me it was so quick – possibly because I was so busy – thanks Helen!
It all feel rather weird that January has come and gone and here is February. I overheard someone talking today saying that it’s going to be a cold month. Not happy about that at all.
I see that The Incredibles 2 is coming, which is uber exciting. I hope it is as good as the first, I expect so.
Yes I heard it was going to be a cold February too – wrap up warm!
What a great selection, like the others I can’t believe the price of these flights . I also love the sound of the blueberry cheesecake hot chocolate mix , droolworthy.
Definitely drool-worthy. Now I know they bring out different flavours from time to time, I’m keeping a beady eye on them 🙂
Ooh I love those Laura Ashley tiles! They are so lovely and stylish! Those flights are a real bargain too!
They are lovely tiles – and so on -trend too. Thanks Laura!
Those flights to South America are an incredible price and so worth snapping up. I do love the idea of the ring doorbell as it’s a great idea to monitor your home when you’re not in.
…And that’s why I’m a big fan of tech – if it works properly that is!
OMG. I really want to go to South America, those flights sound so cheap! Great find!!
Thanks Rachel – it’s a good idea to keep your eye on offers as they come and go quickly.
We cant belive how fast January has passed too, you have featured a lovely selection of items, but the camera on the doorbell caught my eyes, as we cant see who is outside too when the doorbell rings.
It’s worth buying while it’s on special offer – and offers peace of mind.
Oh wow it sounds like you had an amazing January. I am going to have to check out Sticky AI how cool is that for an app!
Let me know how you get on Sarah – I think you’ll like it!
Thank goodness January is over. Means next month we are off skiing hooray. Im also really looking forward to pancake day this year yummers x
Have an amazing ski trip!
Oh my what a great idea for an app to convert selfies into stickers – I love that x
I think you might just enjoy playing around with it now!
I am waiting for Incredibles 2 – such a child but the first is one of my favourite animated films
I bet the kids love the fact you’ll watch animated films with them. I’m a bit rubbish at watching them myself, even though I appreciate they throw in adult humour.
I love Norwegian airlines for making travel more affordable. Buenos Aires here we all come!
C x
They’re great aren’t they? wow air is another great provider of super cheap long-haul flights.
I found January quite the opposite, it feels like January was a whole year ? going to watch that carpet cleaner vid now, that looks just so amazing.
It definitely felt like a whole year of not getting paid that’s for sure!
Oh my goodness! I want to try he blueberry cheesecake hot chocolate. I’m crazy for blueberry cheesecake so this is really a must try for me.
You might be able to buy it online – if it tastes as good as it sounds I think I’ll be trying out a few of their flavours
